Vintage Mason's Chartreuse Ironstone Hydra Jug

A vintage Mason's Ironstone Hydra jug in the Chartreuse pattern, with the classic octagonal body, a wavy rim and a handle that ends in a serpent's head where it joins the rim. The cream ground is printed and hand painted with large green flower heads, pale yellow leaves and blossoms on fine twining stems, and deep teal scrolling leaves edged in gold, with a teal band and gold trim around the rim and gold along the handle. Lovely filled with garden flowers or greenery, or displayed on a dresser shelf with other English ironstone.
